Strategy and Message Development:
Conducting media outreach without a plan and specific messaging is not the effective way to go. When we begin to work with a new client, we review or conduct research to understand where the company currently stands in terms of its business objectives. Then, we work with clients to develop communications plans, including media and organizational targets that will enable them to achieve their objectives over a reasonable schedule.
Business/Financial Media Relations:
Access to the national business media outlets has grown more challenging over recent years due to the greater pressures reporters are under including competition from online and social media, and dealing with hundreds of PR operations at their doors. Tannen Corporate Communications works with clients to develop their stories so they will appeal to leading business media outlets including Associated Press, Barron’s, Bloomberg (and Business Week), The Economist, Financial Times, Forbes, Fortune, the New York Times business section and the Wall Street Journal, among others. Radio, TV and online targeted outlets include Bloomberg Radio and TV, Cheddar.com, CNBC, CNN Business and Fox Business, as well as the rapidly expanding number of business podcasts. And, we will tell a client if a story has little or no chance of placement in these demanding outlets.
Executive Thought Leadership:
Over his career, Andy Tannen specialized in developing thought leadership programs for major company CEOs and implementing them. Today, while the CEO’s role is clearly changing, thought leadership is actually growing in importance as more CEOs than ever before are speaking out on headline issues that affect employees and communities, ranging from climate change and diversity and inclusion to education, gender equality, gun control, homelessness and immigration. Tannen Corporate Communications helps companies determine what issues are most strategic, what messaging to use and where to deliver it (media, forums like the Boston Chief Executives Club or the Economic Club of Washington, NGO partnerships and other channels).
Media Training:
We work with outstanding media trainers who are former reporters to prepare executives for interviews with challenging reporters at major national media, as well as for presentations before key stakeholder groups including investors, employees, industry conferences and business forums.
